  Jane

Jane was the type of little girl who loved to play dress up. As a teenager, she loved doing makeovers with her friends and talking about which boy was cuter than the other. Then she started college and was the “mother” type at her sorority house, making sure everyone was well hydrated after a night of drinking so they could make it to their volunteering assignments the next day. The first interview post-graduation landed her a prime position at the law firm of choice.

Her parents were proud, her sister looked up to her, and her boyfriend, Andrew, doted on her. Life was planned out all too well, and Jane was please. So when Andrew asked her to marry him, Jane checked another item off her list. Career— check. Husband— check. Now the next “check” would be baby.

Jane and her new fiancée purchased a new four-bedroom house in one of South Florida’s chicest neighborhoods. They moved in right away while planning for their wedding, a lavish affair planned for six months into the future. Little did Jane and Andrew know about their neighbors next door. Those were the neighbors everyone in the cul-de-sac steered clear of, but that had never been a problem since they never tried to make friends either.

Jane decided to meet all of her new neighbors by inviting everyone over for a barbecue the weekend after they finished unpacking. It was a warm spring, and she wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather. Jane readied herself in front of the full-length mirror that stood in the corner of the master suite. Confirming that her knee-length A-line skirt was pressed to perfection and her blouse was tucked in evenly, she gave one last brush to her long, auburn hair. Then she helped Andrew outside, putting the finishing touches on the mimosa bar she had so cleverly designed from her inspiration board on Pinterest.

The first to arrive were the neighbors from across the street, a young couple about as equally dull, yet content, as our own Jane and Andrew. The next couple to arrive lived a few houses down. They were very unhappily married but quite satisfied to continue on in that fashion, if only for the convenience. A third couple arrived, a pair of older men, neither of which admitted to being a couple, but Jane tactfully did not press them with questions. Lastly, the ninth and tenth persons to join the party were a pair that not only disrupted the conversation on their arrival, but also laughed when they saw their neighbors’ shocked faces.

“Yes, we know. We’re gorgeous,” said the woman. Her sleek black bob was perfectly crafted to show the slender neck leading to her well-endowed bosom, which she artfully displayed in her revealing sweater.

The man, tall and exuding confidence, commanded attention just as well as his female counterpart. They were strange, yet Jane rushed over to greet them, noticing the air had suddenly changed in the presence of these new neighbors. She extended her hand to each of them. The man looked at her quizzically, his bright hazel eyes gawking at her figure. She felt a blush creep out towards her skin, but still she extended her hand.

“My name is Jane Townsend. So glad you could come.” She motioned to the rest of the group to make the newcomers feel welcome.

“We are Genevieve and Axel,” he said, taking Jane’s hand. As their fingers made contact, Jane’s eyes went dark. She saw nothing, and then she saw everything— the very beauty of living. She recoiled, her vision back to what it had been before, and her erratic heartbeat and harried breathing led her to believe she was suffering some sort of physical ailment. Andrew came over to her, quick to worry over his pretty fiancée.

“I’m sorry,” Jane said, relying on Andrew to keep her steady. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me. Could I be having a heart attack or something?”

“That’s silly darling, but we should get you inside to rest,” Andrew told her softly. Then for the benefit of those gathered, he raised his voice. “I’m sorry, friends. I don’t think Jane should continue out here. Maybe we can reschedule. I’m afraid the stress of moving has made her unwell.”

The neighbors all understood and wished Jane to feel better soon. She wished that as well. When they had all gone, she replayed the incident in her mind, trying to figure out what had caused her ailment. Though she felt fine afterwards, she still remembered the lightheadedness, the racing heart, and the nervous flutters in her stomach. And it all started when they arrived. No, it started when she touched his hand.

She couldn’t remember her new neighbor’s name, but she remembered his eyes. Right before she began to feel out of sorts, she had zeroed in on his eyes and the extreme pull she had felt looking into them.

“Why were they laughing when they came in?” Jane asked Andrew as he brought her a hot cup of chamomile tea.

  “Who was laughing?” he asked

“The next-door neighbors.” She paused. He shook his head. “The man and woman that had just walked in were laughing… rather loudly, Andrew,” she insisted.

“They were smiling, but that’s it. I think you were overheated and overstressed. Don’t worry, you’ll feel better after your tea and some rest.”

Jane gave him a puzzled look. The couple’s laughter had been so loud that she remembered watching every single person there, including her fiancée, turning their attention to them. She couldn’t understand why Andrew was downplaying this as her being overstressed. It’s not likely she hallucinated. Or was she ill for real?

  Axel

“Well that was quick,” Genevieve said, removing the pearl necklace and throwing it on the kitchen counter. “We didn’t even have to stay for small talk.”

“This is not a good thing,” Axel tried to persuade his sister. “She almost fainted from me simply touching her. The fact that we were in and out is convenient, but I’m worried that the job is not done with her. I saw it in her eyes— she was not giving in.”

“You always worry too much about these humans.” She removed the royal blue pumps and tossed them in the hall closet. “I’m going to soak in the hot springs. Don’t follow me through.”

“I wouldn’t want to,” Axel said, rolling his eyes. His sister always had a lover waiting for her at the hot springs. He watched her step into the
mirror and disappear.

It had been so long since he’d gone through to his homeland. He would not return until he brought back a human woman worthy of carrying his child. It was a family tradition and thus his rule for himself. But most of what he’d found in this city had been trash or unwilling. He always had to erase their memories after and leave them.

Axel fixed himself a nice lunch when his stomach started to growl, not having been able to eat anything at the BBQ. He tried to remember what he’d been trying to tell the woman Jane with his mind when he touched her. Deep down he knew he was admiring her shapely legs, the curve of her ass, her juicy lips… but he wasn’t sending any of that to her, right? The dangers of sending deep messages were well-known to him. He was sure he’d been sending the same simple memory-fading thoughts to Jane as he had to everyone else.

Not having the luxury of hot springs and the other pleasures of his homeland, Axel resigned himself to taking a dip in his backyard pool. He swam several hundred laps, and then lay on the grass, wishing he could manipulate the earth like he could at home. Everything was so different here.

A loud cracking noise sounded from beyond his fence, and Axel looked up, seeing a wide-eyed red-haired woman dangling over it.

“I’m so sorry,” she cried out. Axel hurried over to help her. She was struggling to stay on top, and he stood on his A/C equipment to reach her and bring her over to his backyard. As he helped her to the ground, realizing it was Jane, he quickly let go of her hand before he sent her anything by accident. He wasn’t sure if it was a mistake before or not, but it was better not to tempt fate.

Touch magnified a message, and he made sure to step away from her. He also tried not to think about the fact that she’d been watching him sunbathing. Or that her blouse was so disheveled she had ripped the top buttons off in coming over the fence. Her pushed up breasts were clearly visible in a pink lace bra. He tried, in vain, to avert his eyes.

  “Are you okay?” he asked.

“I’m so sorry. I don’t know what came over me. Oh... I just was curious, and... Oh my, I’m so embarrassed,” she said, pulling her shirt together, but that only made it worse because she was pushing her tits together. Axel tried to think of something else (fleas, vomit, a wet fish… anything) so that his dick would stop twitching. He turned his body away so she wouldn’t notice his growing erection.

“It’s fine. Don’t be embarrassed. I understand wanting to check on the new neighbors.” Axel wasn’t sure what to do with her now, but he wanted to be rid of her so he could let his mind run free. Keeping such control was tiring.

Her big brown eyes and pouty lips begged for something more than he was currently giving her, but Axel didn’t think she even knew it. She was just another desperate housewife.

“Ok, so we’ll all have to set up another barbecue or something right?” he said, walking towards the side fence to let her out. The poor woman would have to explain to her husband why she was coming in through the front door.

“My fiancée says I’m stressed, but I don’t think that was it,” she said, not moving. Fiancée? Hmmm. Not a desperate housewife yet.

“Maybe not. Hey, I wanted to apologize for our rude entrance. My sister was telling me a joke, and then we couldn’t stop laughing.” This was his test.

Her face lit up victoriously when he said that. “Oh, that’s fine. I didn’t take it in a bad way.” Axel knew she wouldn’t guess at his secret, but now he knew his memory-fading message wasn’t what had reached her.

She shuffled nervously, and Axel made his way again to the fence, her sweet innocence further fanning the flame in his shorts. He let her out, brushing away another apology. He watched as she walked away backwards, waving, her tits jiggling with every step. Then she turned, and he saw the skirt had hitched up her waist so high because of the ordeal with the fence that it was now about a quarter inch away from showing her ass.

He imagined bending her over right there on her lawn— how easily he could take her. His strength and mind powers were nothing she could fight. She’d be his in seconds, screaming with delight, her fiancée coming out and witnessing the debauchery, humiliated.

Axel shook his head, went inside, and took a cold shower.

  3

  Jane

Jane walked to her front door feeling a tiny bit less humiliated than when Axel had helped her over the fence. Thank goodness this time contact with his skin wasn’t as disturbing as it had been earlier. Though she apologized, Jane was sure he thought she was a crazy woman. Soon he’d put his sister on alert for the stalker neighbor lady.

Jane had only meant to take a quick peek, but her curiosity won over. When the chair beneath her broke, leaving her dangling on top of the fence, she was sure she’d die of embarrassment. Axel had graciously helped her down and tried to assuage her, but Jane couldn’t hide her mortification. Especially when she discovered her blouse had burst open and was standing in front of a semi-naked man with her breasts exposed.

She tried the front door, and thankfully, it was unlocked. Jane slipped inside and went upstairs to the bathroom, taking off her ripped shirt and stained skirt. She jumped in the shower and lathered herself with plenty of flower-scented soap. After, she washed it off with her new hand-held shower attachment which was very convenient for those hard to reach places. Soon she discovered another function for the attachment, and Jane knew it would be a nice replacement for her vibrator since after moving in with Andrew she’d thrown it away, afraid he’d find it.

The stream of water played with her intimate area, her body responding. As she neared the climax, an image formed in her mind. A pair of eyes, honey in color and intensely focused, expanded to a perfectly sculpted face, broad shoulders, a strong chest, and thick, muscled arms. A lean torso pointed downward, and she could see nothing below, but recognized the neighbor she had just been spying on.

Axel. He watched her pleasure herself, and she welcomed it. Jane leaned back against the cool shower door as he stared, his tongue sliding between his lips in anticipation. Jane wanted him to touch her, her body almost there, but he only watched. When she came, she bit her lip to keep from alerting Andrew to her intimate moment.

She sat down, her legs weak, and her mind tired from her fantasy. Stepping out of the shower, her brain cleared from the steam and lustful thoughts. Jane couldn’t have been more perplexed. How was it possible to have such vivid fantasies? It was like Axel had been in her mind, watching her physical self. She tried to shake it off and to forget about her neighbor.

When Andrew and Jane went out to dinner that evening (after she assured him several times that she was feeling much better) Jane decided not to tell Andrew about her earlier peeping incident. Though feeling guilty about keeping such a secret, she knew it would wreak all kinds of havoc on their perfectly ordered little life if it were to come out. She let him order her meal, which Jane knew she would love, and they toasted to each other.

They were happy as clams, the pair, and eager for their wedding. As he drove them back home, Jane told Andrew the details of her discussion with the wedding planner earlier in the week. He agreed with everything she had selected, trusting her judgment on these matters. That night, they went to bed with a chaste kiss, each much too exhausted from the day’s events to even consider fooling around.

Jane woke up at three o’clock in the morning, sweating and trembling. She was afraid that she truly was ill. Perhaps a nervous breakdown? Though she couldn’t remember her dream, it must have been something powerfully moving. The only thing she could recall from it, she feared, was a certain pair of eyes. Tossing and turning the rest of the night, sleeping a few minutes here and there, she was afraid to dream again. In the morning, Jane finally found sleep when Andrew was up and about around the house.

It was the early afternoon when she descended to the first floor, only to find her fiancée was not alone. Sitting in her living room were Axel and his sister, whose name she couldn’t remember. Jane smoothed out her hair as best sh
e could and pushed aside all thoughts of yesterday. The entire day had been an anomaly, and today would be a brand new start.

“Hello. I’m sorry if I look a mess, but I slept so poorly that I had a long nap this morning,” Jane said, sitting next to Andrew.

“You look fine,” said Axel’s sister, smoothing her own already sleek hair. “So sorry to interrupt your Sunday, but we wanted to check up on you after what happened yesterday.”

Andrew spoke up then. “I told them you were good as new, though now that you’re not sleeping well, I wonder if that’s true.” He passed his hand over Jane’s knee and patted her thigh in reassurance, and she felt something cold come over her. Her first instinct was to look into Axel’s eyes, which she had been avoiding, but now got the feeling he was jealous of Andrew’s touch. It was preposterous, of course. But still…

“I’m much better, thank you,” she said, though she wondered if making an appointment with a doctor wouldn’t be a bad idea.

“In that case, we should go,” Axel said, standing up. “Genevieve?”

His sister grabbed his hand and pulled him back down. “Don’t be silly. We should get to know our neighbors. How would you two like to come over for dinner tonight?” Genevieve’s short hair flounced back and forth whenever she turned her head from us to her brother.

“That sounds great,” Andrew said, putting his arm around Jane and squeezing her shoulder. Again she felt the cold sensation. Jane forced a smile on her face and agreed to the dinner. She settled in closer to Andrew for his protection, though she wasn’t conscious of any danger.

“Now that that’s settled,” Axel said, standing up again, “Let’s go now before I’m late for my meeting.”

“Meeting? Oh you must be making that up. What could you possibly have a meeting about?” Genevieve asked, though she joined her brother in walking out. He turned and gave the couple a smile. It was nothing like the smile in Jane’s fantasy in the shower from the afternoon before.
